Essex County is located between the city of Boston and New Hampshire whose regions chief circumference highway is Route 128. The region, known as the 'gold coast,' is home to well-known cities such as Gloucester, the oldest seaport in the country, and Marblehead, the Yachting Capital of the World, a rocky peninsula that extends into the Atlantic Ocean with Marblehead Neck, Peach's Point and Ocean Avenue. Swampscott and Nahant, only fifteen miles from Boston and Logan Airport, are quintessential waterfront New England towns that helped shape our nation's history. Prides Crossing, Beverly Farms and Manchester-by-the-Sea are vibrant coastal communities that wind along scenic Route 127 past famous summer cottages, grand, Queen Anne-style architecture and beautiful community beaches.
